How to get to Favignana
The Trapani ferry (30 minutes, €12–14)
Liberty Lines runs hydrofoils between Trapani and Favignana several times a day. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. A passenger ticket is roughly €12–14 one way. You can walk on or book in advance online. The terminal is in central Trapani. Return ferries run roughly every 2–3 hours, so if you book an early morning boat tour (departing ~9:30 AM), you can catch an evening return ferry and be back in Trapani by early evening.
By ferry from Marsala (also ~30 minutes)
Liberty Lines also runs ferries from Marsala, another town on Sicily’s west coast, also about 30 minutes to Favignana. Same price. Slightly less common than the Trapani route but a valid alternative if you are staying near Marsala.
No airport on Favignana
The island has no airport. Fly into Trapani–Birgi (Vincenzo Florio Airport) (~40 km away, 45 minutes by car) or Palermo–Falcone-Borsellino (~100 km, 2 hours by car). From either airport, rent a car or take a bus to Trapani city, then catch the ferry.
No direct ferry from Palermo
Despite being Sicily’s capital, Palermo has no direct boat to Favignana. You must travel overland to Trapani (roughly 2 hours by car or bus), then take the ferry. Some day-trip tours handle this logistics: a coach picks you up in Palermo, drives you to Trapani, you board the boat, and return the same evening. Long day (7:00–8:00 PM arrival in Trapani, reverse trip home) but it works.
Car ferry option (Siremar)
A car ferry Siremar runs between Trapani and Favignana, but it is slow (~1.5 hours) and unnecessary for a day trip. Use it only if you are bringing a car, which most day visitors do not need on Favignana (bikes are better).
